3D Architectural Integration

A large-scale urban visualization for the Lleida City Council. This project serves as the visual roadmap for the «Pla Integral Centre Històric,» an ambitious €60 million transformation project aimed at the physical and social revitalization of the city’s most historic district over the next seven years.

The challenge was to take raw drone footage of the current city and «build» the future of Lleida directly onto the landscape, showing the planned construction of 800 homes, new urban forests, and the restoration of key historical landmarks.

Challenges & Objectives

/ Project Overview

The project required the seamless integration of 3D architectural models into aerial drone footage. This included visualizing new residential buildings and the recovery of emblematic sites such as the Convent de Santa Teresa and the Mercat del Pla. The goal was to provide a realistic and inspiring look at how these 100 planned actions would reshape the city’s skyline and community spaces.

/ Challenges

This was a project of extreme technical difficulty executed under a «express» deadline. Beyond the standard 3D modeling, I had to perform complex 3D camera tracking on moving drone shots to ensure the new structures remained perfectly anchored to the ground. The integration required meticulous rotoscoping and masking, as many new buildings had to sit behind existing structures or interact with the complex topography of the old town. Matching the lighting, shadows, and color grading of the 3D assets to the ever-changing natural light of the aerial footage was a constant race against time.

/ Objectives

My objective was to deliver high-fidelity realism under high-pressure conditions. Because of the extremely tight turnaround, there was no room for error or multiple feedback loops. I had to manage the project with absolute professional clarity: capturing the client’s needs instantly, providing clear technical guidance, and delivering a final result that required minimal adjustments. The goal was to make the future of Lleida look as tangible and real as the city today.

Final Outcome

Despite the «express» nature of the commission, the final outcome was met with widespread acclaim. The visual integration was so seamless that it became the cornerstone for communicating the project’s value to the citizens. It proved that even under intense time constraints, a disciplined «Crafter» can maintain professional standards and deliver a cinematic result that facilitates large-scale political and social consensus.
